The whiffle tree is the threaded rod mounted in the bottom of the pop up. A draw bar runs up and down the rod, and pulls or releases the lift cables.
Plastic delrin nut / acme screw whiffle tree. Your original Coleman or Fleetwood whiffle tree may have a white plastic nut at the center of the draw bar.
There were two types of whiffle trees used. Ball bearing and plastic delrin nut. This style of plastic nut tree is more commonly found on smaller units.
This part was a saving grace, that’s for sure! I have a 1998 Coleman Cheyenne that I’ve been renovating all summer long. I’ve refurbished the ABS roof with Grizzly Grip and a new gasket, removed the front storage box (notorious for leaking) and rebuilt the front end of the camper. All of that done, I raised the roof only to have it collapse! The delrin nut on the wiffle tree had finally stripped and let go. The whole thing came crashing down (lucky for me, it came down straight and even).
Your customer service department was incredibly helpful with getting me the right part. The videos and instructions are fantastic as well. The only trouble I had was in trying to remove the pin from the thrust nut. Had to use an air hammer to get the pin out. It was absolutely not going to come out with a pin punch and hammer. Once the old was out, in went the new. Under an hour, start to finish! Thanks for another good experience with parts and service.
I looked at this 1999 Cheyenne at the end of July. The owner told me that it was in great shape but hadn't been opened in 10 years. About 5 years ago someone showed an interest in buying it. In an effort to open it, he over cranked the whiffletree against a mouse nest and stripped the nut out and damaged the drive tube. So, the most I was able to see was what I could see through the door. The price was right. Im not sure if I would have done it without the confidence the Popup Camper Pro youtube channel gave me. Yesterday I cut the old whiffletree out and installed the new one and for the first time I saw the inside. Jackpot. Thank you Derek for all the info that made this possible.
Putting the whiffle tree onto my 2000 Coleman pop up camper was pretty straight forward. first you have to remove the steel guard plate underneath in the rear part of the pop-up camper and you have to disassemble the crank which contains 8 bolts then remove the whiffletree be careful in two instances one when you remove the bolts from the back that the plates don't shift around because it will be very difficult to line the bolts backup when reinstalling them second of all when you remove the bolts from the tree tention bracket make sure that you are aware of the position of the nuts because in even tention can cause the roof to go up crooked. Invert new whiffle tree then reverse the process after applying Grease to the threads on the whiffle tree. 30
minutes tops if your mechanical.
The original whiffle tree was rusted and frozen to turn. The Acme Nut Whiffle Tree 5001 fit perfectly and operates as expected. Highly recommended as a replacement.
It was supposed to be for a 1998 but the one I ordered is for a 2002 but fit the same way and operated the same i wish they would use a brass instead of teflon waffle but it worked and im happy thank you for everything ill be restoring my camper so ill be getting other parts from you thanks again
The service was absolutely amazing. I called and described the issue I had with my camper and was assured I was ordering the correct part. I was eve told I could call back if I needed help on installation. Fortunately I didn’t need any help because the part fit perfectly and was easy to install. I’ll forever by my Coleman parts here!
I love the part but bought through a Canadian website for a certain price then when it was delivered had to pay a duty charge 120 so if I new that would not have bought it

Part received in good condition and well made. Installation everything went well except the pin it is located in a very tight space and I have not yet been able to get it fully set in place. I am unable at this time to tell you if the part fixed the problem or not. Hopefully it will.

Sorry for delay in feedback; needed a place where I could raise the pop up tent to a height allowing repair. Thank God for the assistance of a friend... The new whiffle tree is now in place and working perfectly. Had some difficulty removing the original tree because of rust around ring where the shear pins are located. Thank you for your assistance and rapid delivery of correct part. Now that I can open the tent I will be able to inspect the heater and kitchen.
