The drive hub extension threads onto the drive shaft. This crank component is what you see sticking out of the camper, and what you put the crank handle into to raise and lower the roof.
Installation Tip: This kit comes with a fine thread and coarse thread 5/8 nut. Check your correct thread size before installation, and use a thread locking agent like LOCK-TITE when installing the 5/8 nut.

After watching the really useful video I purchased the correct drive hub extension. I had some problems removing the old drive hub ( see the picture) and emailed Derek. He responded to confirm that I needed to hack-saw off the old extension so I could use a vice grip to extract the old slotted bolt holding it all on. And it worked !!! Thanks Derek!!
I ordered the part that was needed, with the help of the video from Coleman Popup Parts made installation easy. Making sure the drive hub extension is fully seated is probably the hardest part. I found using a pair of vise grips on the bottom gear helped as well as opening the roof up all the way, lowering it and opening again with an extra turn to make sure brake (clicking) was engaging properly. Highly recommend if you have issues with lowering or stuck roofs, this is usually the cause!
So a little instruction would be helpful. Once I figured it out it works great. But there is not a lot of bite on the interior nut. Replaced a 99 Santee part and is a perfect match.
Hello, I received the hub extension and found that the hub wouldn't screw all the way on the drive shaft. I sent an email about this issue and Derek sent me another hub extension kit to try. I had the same issue with the new hub not screwing all the way on the drive shaft. I sent an email telling Derek I was going to use the spring, bushing and washers with the old hub extension as it screwed all the on the drive shaft. It worked and the tent trailer now goes up and down as designed. Instead of using the pressure pin I used a clevis pin with a cotter pin. It worked great and it will be easier to maintain.
I wouldn't even have tried this repair if I hadn't seen Derek's video on what to do if your tent trailer won't crank down.
Derek responded to my emails quickly so I could keep this little project going. He sent me a box to send the parts back I didn't use and I got a full refund for my trouble.
I will highly recommend coleman pop up parts to anyone who asks me about trouble with a tent trailer.

The part is of good quality. Pop up Parts service was great and the part was shipped quickly. This is were the issue started. The delivery company was UPS. They put an additional $70 convenience fee to the original $69 dollar shipping cost which I paid at time of purchase. Now it is shipping to Canada, however the actual import duty was $1.50. I talked to Canada customs about this and they said they see UPS and Fedex doing this to a lot of customers. After many failed delivery attempts as if you aren't there it doesn't get left because they want to do a COD. We received it after 4 weeks of pain and UPS eventually dropped the extra charge. A different shipping company to Canada would be appreciated.
I had the dreaded slotted screw on my 95 colman. That was the hard part. This new part could not have been any easier to install and thank you to the experts that answered my questions. My camper now cranks up.
Install and works fine the problem was my crank wouldn’t fit in the tube. I had to substantially file the crank to get it to fit. I also bought the crank here.
The parts worked great. Would have better if they fixed my problem, but that was not the case. I
will need to dig a little further. Weather has set me back a little for now.

Worked very well! Great video for installation, made this a quick repair and the pop up raises now with all the (clicks). Got this part soon enough to save me lots of headaches of replacing more parts!

Everything I needed for this part of my repair. These parts can be a pain to install once the tube is in the camper. Try inserting all the small parts on the end of a long drill bit or pencil.
Derek Smith was EXCELLENT support for this part. He promptly returned my calls and had a helpful “how to” video. My old extension tube was “stubborn” and I had to also take off the “wiffle tree” cover so that I could put a pipe wrench on the shaft so that I could remove the old extension tube. Part fit perfectly and I now have a Coleman tent trailer with a roof system working properly again!
The part was for my daughter's Coleman pop-up. It was a relief just to be able to find the part! The part was as illustrated online. It came fairly quickly and was easy to install. One thing I wished though is that there was an illustration that showed the placement of the internal parts. There seemed to be a couple more washers that what I could find in the old part. Once installed, the lift mechanism worked great again. Overall, my daughter got her trailer back before the music festival that she wanted to attend. All is good. Thanks for keeping the parts supply alive.
