Round drive design. The output shaft on this motor has a pin through it.
Only two lift motors were used and they are easily identified by the shape of the drive coupling. This motor incorporates a "round" shaft design with a pin. All other components of the motor and harness plug are identical in both motors. This motor is the most popular output shaft design.

When we purchased our 2001 Coleman Niagara from the previous owners, they did not do it any favors. They jury-rigged a broken cable lift and just bypassed the old electric lift system without disconnecting it. I ended up replacing the:
Round Drive Lift Motor,
Power Lift Current Limiter,
Power Lift Remote Silver End,
Whiffle Tree, and
Rear Passenger-side Lift Cable
I purchased all the parts from Coleman Pop-up Parts using the assistance, advice, and helpful videos from the company to make sure I got the right parts, that fit perfect and were OEM quality it better. Everything worked perfectly and I was able to get my camper working properly. The associated video is the culminated effort of the install of the parts.
Decided to replace the lift motor because the manual lift adapter had been sheared off and the old motor was noisy. The new motor is a lot quieter and smoother. Pic is the inside of the old motor, glad I decided to replace it!
My restoration project is a Coleman 1979 Valley Forge. I replacing the bearing based wiffletree with an acme screw type that doesn’t require a dynamic brake to lock in the upright position. That said, I installed waterproof limit switches, reversing solenoid, and a remote winch controller instead of the standard (expensive) Barker current limiter. See attached circuit diagram. If you’re placing this motor inside this type frame it won’t quite fit while providing a straight connecting shaft to the existing crank handle. A small 1/4” groove must be cut into the underside of the floor to accommodate the motor, and a small universal joint must be added to the crank shaft. The motor works great with these modifications!

The replacement works as designed and is an exact replacement. I’m not impressed with the design, however. Not the fault of the seller but if there is a motor failure the camper is unusable. I saved the old unit and removed the motor and gears to have an “adapter” to salvage a camp trip.

I'm wondering, the instructions provided on this page seem to show how to install the power lift system, but all I need to do is swap out the motor. Is swapping the motor as easy as it sounds? I currently cannot get the roof up or the manual override to work. Planning to replace the current limiter and motor at the same time and any information/advice would be greatly appreciated.
